TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei Zoo announced it will extend its opening hours until 9 p.m. every Saturday this summer until Aug. 23.
The extra hours not only offer cooler temperatures but also a range of new activities that visitors can enjoy, per Taipei Zoo. Visitors can also purchase a “Starlight Ticket” for NT$60 (US$2), available at 4:30 p.m.
One of the most popular activities during this period is a "goose parade," where, at dusk, geese follow their zookeepers in formation along pathways to the Animal Behavior Academy. Normally held on Sundays, the event will now include a special Saturday evening session, offering visitors another opportunity to learn the secrets of animal behavior.

To help everyone beat the heat, the zoo will operate its fountain and misting systems on a regular schedule throughout the visitor square. This popular splash area has long been a favorite for kids and families, with a new “Rainfall Fun” zone available near the zebra enclosure in the African Animal Area, simulating refreshing African rain showers. Visitors are encouraged to bring a change of clothes.
Another first for the zoo this year is night access to the Desert and Australian Animal Area, allowing families to enjoy a picnic under the stars.
This year’s summertime activities are inspired by animal species closely linked to aquatic environments: the Hippopotamus, crocodiles, Eurasian otter, Malayan tiger, African penguin, Asian elephant, and orangutan. On Saturdays, visitors are invited to each animal’s habitat area to observe their behaviors and attend zookeeper talks about their care, conservation, and the ways they adapt to their environments, including how they keep cool in summer.

Taipei Zoo is also launching the “Animal Photo Booth” activity, which offers one free photo booth session featuring animals and the e-invoice bear mascot to visitors who donate any three printed receipts (dated July–August 2025) from the zoo’s concession stands.
The last entry to the zoo is at 8 p.m., and some areas, such as the Giant Panda House, will close earlier at 6 p.m. to ensure proper care of the animals. For more information, please check the zoo's website.
