TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s Navy and Air Force are set to conduct a joint precision live-fire drill next month.
Hsiung Feng anti-ship missiles, Patriot air-defense missiles, and other munitions will be launched near Jiupeng, Pingtung County, CNA reported. According to an Air Force Command notification, strict safety regulations will be enforced from Aug. 19-20 in areas near eastern and southern Taiwan
The firing area is divided into two zones. Zone 1 stretches from Dawu in Taitung to Eluanbi in Pingtung, and eastward to the western coast of Orchid Island. Zone 2 extends further east from Green Island and Orchid Island into the open sea.
Taiwan concluded its 10-day live-fire segment of the Han Kuang 41 military exercise last week, which tested the nation’s combat readiness and whole-of-society defense and resilience.
