TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A truck collided with a bus in New Taipei's Wanli District at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, resulting in one out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, two serious injuries, and 12 minor injuries.
Ren Ji-nan (任季男), general manager of Kuo-Kuang Motor Transport, said that according to the report from the bus company's Jinshan Station master, the bus was at full capacity with 41 passengers, including the driver, when it was struck. The oncoming truck was alleged to have been going too fast when making a turn as it struck the bus, leaving the door of the bus unable to open, per UDN.
Seriously injured passengers were rushed to Keelung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, and others diverted to regional hospitals. According to police, the badly injured truck driver was sent to Neihu Tri-Service General Hospital for treatment.
Ren said the bus company dispatched personnel to assist the injured driver and passengers. He added the company has accident insurance, will fully cooperate with the authorities, and will also seek compensation from the truck operator.
