TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan welcomed a nine-member delegation from the youth division of Japan’s Democratic Party for the People on Tuesday.
The delegation is led by Satoshi Asano, director of the party’s youth division, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Over the course of their three-day visit, the group will meet with Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴), Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜), National Security Council Secretary-General Joseph Wu (吳釗燮), and other senior officials to learn about Taiwan’s political and economic situation as well as its industrial development. The group will also visit the Hsinchu Science Park.
The ministry said the visit reflects the Japanese National Diet’s cross-party support for Taiwan and will help deepen exchanges and cooperation between young political leaders from both countries.
The Democratic Party for the People recently secured 17 seats in the House of Councillors, making it the third-largest opposition party.
