TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taoyuan Metro Corporation and the Taoyuan City Government Department of Indigenous Affairs have partnered for a series of promotions to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day (Aug. 1).
For the entire month of August, individuals wearing Indigenous clothing or accessories, or presenting any form of e-ticket, will be eligible for discounts at 14 stores within the KIRI International Indigenous Cultural and Creative Park, according to a Taoyuan Metro press release. Acceptable tickets include: Taoyuan Metro passes, day passes, TPASS commuter cards, EasyCards, and iPASS.
From Aug. 1 to 7, anyone wearing traditional indigenous attire can also ride the Airport MRT line unlimited times for free. Passengers need to present their attire at any station’s information counter before passing through the gate.
The promotions are open to all, whether a person is Indigenous or not. The initiative aims to encourage people to ride the MRT while supporting Taiwan’s multicultural society.
The park is located across from Linghang Station on the Airport MRT line. It was designed with Austronesian cultural themes in mind and features businesses ranging from artistic and creative brands to restaurants and workshops.
