TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China said Monday that it will host its first gala in Taiwan next month.
The gala, called “United for Taiwan, A Night to Defend Democracy,” will be held on Aug. 26 in partnership with Hello Taiwan. The event will focus on global support of Taiwan “in a time of increasing uncertainty,” according to IPAC.
IPAC invited lawmakers from Taiwan and abroad and Taiwanese celebrities to network and discuss how to preserve cross-strait stability.
“Now, more than ever, we must come together to illustrate that preserving Taiwan's democracy is beyond party, beyond ideology, and beyond geography,” Luke de Pulford, IPAC co-founder, said.
Lithuanian parliamentarian and IPAC member Zygimantas Pavilionis said: “Taiwan's courage in the face of aggression is a beacon for all who believe in freedom. We must watch that courage with international action and solidarity — for our freedom and yours.”
Tickets for the gala can be purchased here.
