TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A woman who recently obtained a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend was stabbed to death by him in a parking lot in Taipei’s Xinyi District on Wednesday night.
Just before 9 p.m., the victim, a 25-year-old surnamed Gu (顧), was ambushed in the underground lot beneath Vieshow Cinemas, located a few blocks from Taipei 101. She had been on her way to work as a hostess at the nearby Ruff nightclub, per UDN.
The alleged assailant, a 22-year-old ex-boyfriend surnamed Liu (劉), had also worked at Ruff. Witnesses reportedly saw him drag Gu into a stairwell in parking area A16, where he stabbed her in the neck and abdomen.
Liu then fled on a motorcycle toward his grandfather’s house in Yilan County. Police, anticipating his route, arrested him shortly after midnight at an undisclosed location.
Gu was rushed to Taipei Medical University Hospital but died of her injuries after about an hour of treatment.
Two days earlier, a court had approved a restraining order Gu had requested against Liu. The two had previously lived together in Xinyi District.
Gu had recently posted on social media that Liu continued harassing her following their breakup. She also shared evidence showing he had damaged her property.
The murder weapon, believed to have been discarded along the highway, had not been recovered at the time of publication.
