TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Kuai Chi unmanned surface vessel will take part in the Navy’s annual sea and air precision live-fire drill from Aug. 19–20 in Jiupeng, Pingtung.
The exercise will feature launches of Hsiung Feng anti-ship missiles, Patriot air-defense missiles, and other munitions, per CNA.
Developed by the National Chung Shan Institute of Science and Technology, the Kuai Chi will undergo capability tests. A military source said it is equipped with Ching Feng attack drones and another undisclosed UAV. The Ching Feng drones will be launched in a swarm to strike a target vessel.
Procurement plans for the Kuai Chi will be adjusted based on its performance during the drill.
The Air Force Command has issued a navigation warning to avoid waters near Dawu in Taitung and Eluanbi in Pingtung during the exercise.
