TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Kaohsiung has attracted more than 500 visitors to events in two Indonesian cities promoting farm tourism, reports said Thursday.
The Aug. 18-22 events in Jakarta and Bandung introduced the program to 250 visitors from the local travel sector, per CNA. The events, organized by Kaohsiung’s Agriculture Bureau, along with the Taiwan Visitors Association, featured travel itineraries, souvenirs, and artisanal products.
ASTINDO, an association grouping Indonesian travel agents and organizing the annual travel fair, said it would recommend the program to its members. The group added it wanted to introduce more Indonesian travelers to life and culture in the Kaohsiung countryside.
Liugui, Dashu, and Yongan districts presented agriculture-related itineraries and events at their stands during the Jakarta and Bandung fairs. The Agriculture Bureau said the events represented Kaohsiung’s emphasis on international city exchanges and rural soft power.
There are also plans to expand the campaign to other countries to popularize the city’s countryside, officials said.
