TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei 101 secured the latest Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design v5 O+M Platinum certification on Friday, setting a record score of 95.
The certification emphasizes decarbonization, human-centered quality of life, and ecological protection as core scoring criteria, per CNA. Taipei 101 Chair Chia Yung-chieh (賈永婕) credited the top score to energy-saving measures, chilled water cooling systems, rainwater recycling, and waste sorting.
Taipei 101 has expanded into sustainability consulting, serving major clients including Formosa Plastics, Far Eastern Group, and Nomura Securities. The business has achieved 400% business growth over the past two years.
The building’s decarbonization efforts include optimizing equipment systems, joining virtual power plant collaborations, and pioneering Taiwan’s first group green electricity sharing model. Last year, tenants collectively procured over 7.08 million kWh of green electricity.
Taipei 101 has also promoted carbon credits, securing Taiwan’s first “micro carbon credit” in 2020 with a 10-year allowance of 2,718 tonnes. Chia said these initiatives demonstrate the building’s leadership in sustainability while charting a path toward full net-zero by 2045.
