TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — UK National Technology Adviser Dave Smith will lead a delegation to Taiwan next week for Semicon, which runs from Sept. 10–12.
During the event, the British Office Taipei and the Taipei Representative Office in the UK will sign an MOU to create a joint semiconductor talent program, according to the British Office Taipei. The UK will also hold a bilateral semiconductor dialogue with Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs.
The delegation is scheduled to visit major Taiwanese firms including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., United Microelectronics Corp., and Promise Technology Integration.
The British Office said Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute, which opened a London office earlier this year, will soon sign a research cooperation agreement with the UK’s National Physical Laboratory.
Smith said he hopes to build on existing trust by deepening dialogue between the UK and Taiwan’s semiconductor industries. “The UK’s strong R&D and business innovation perfectly complement Taiwan’s world-class semiconductor manufacturing,” he said, adding that this cooperation “can shape the future of global technology.”
