TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — French science adviser Pierre-Paul Zalio praised Taiwan’s achievements in academia during a visit last week, calling the country a reliable partner and model for international cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Education, Zalio said Taiwan’s progress in internationalization provides lessons for France and noted the two democracies share common values.
During his trip, Zalio signed an agreement with the National Central Library to establish a Taiwan Resource Center for Chinese Studies at Campus Condorcet in Paris. The center will showcase Taiwanese academic research and digital resources to strengthen the global profile of Taiwan scholarship, the MOE said.
He also visited several universities, including National Sun Yat-sen University, National Cheng Kung University, National Taiwan University, and National Chengchi University, and donated 283 books to Academia Sinica.
The MOE added that Taiwan and France have a long tradition of higher-education cooperation and plan to expand faculty and student exchanges while sharing research results through the new partnership.
