TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Kaohsiung City Government has ended a contract with screenwriter Tsai Kuen-lin (蔡坤霖) after he was accused by a woman of sexual harassment.
Tsai worked on last year’s well-received horror-comedy “Dead Talents Society” and the 2019 film “Detention.” He had also been appointed to run a screenwriting course by the city council.
ETtoday reported that the woman had attended the screenwriting course since 2020 and was later invited to co-develop a script.
She recently told the media she was emotionally manipulated and sexually harassed by Tsai, which left her physically and mentally exhausted and in need of counseling.
She also filed a complaint against the city. In response, the Kaohsiung City Government Bureau of Cultural Affairs canceled the screenwriting course contract, saying it has zero tolerance for sexual harassment and will act in accordance with the law.
CNA reported that sexual harassment is punishable by fines of NT$10,000 (US$330) to NT$100,000 for ordinary cases and NT$60,000 to NT$600,000 for more serious offenses.
