TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan's Mitsui Outlet Park will open with 50 new stores, exclusive Taiwan debuts, and a fresh blend of shopping and dining next year.
Strategically located near Tainan’s high-speed rail and railway stations, the new section will cover roughly 9,900 square meters across three floors, offering a mix of lifestyle, daily essentials, and entertainment. The design draws inspiration from Tainan’s natural beauty.
Shoppers can explore large-scale home and living stores, a Japanese-style supermarket, family-friendly entertainment, home appliances, and a wide range of dining options, according to Super Taste and Mitsui Fudosan.
The venue includes Japan’s top-selling baby and children’s specialty retailer Nishimatsuya, and Minari, which offers refined dishes rooted in traditional Korean cuisine. Branches will include Pomme no Ki Shibuya Supeinzaka Ten, a Japanese creative omelet rice specialty shop with around 30 made-to-order flavors, and Ten Kichi Ya, serving crispy tempura bowls.
Industry observers note that Mitsui’s approach mirrors trends seen at other Taiwanese outlets. The focus is gradually shifting from purely discount-driven shopping to a lifestyle-integrated experience that caters to daily needs and family-friendly activities.
The expansion comes at a time when southern Taiwan’s outlet scene is becoming increasingly vibrant and competitive. Tainan Mitsui will join established rivals, including Kaohsiung’s E-Da Outlet, known for its amusement park, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Park Outlets, and the upcoming Gloria Outlets in Chiayi, which plans to open its first phase in 2028.
