TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration forecast that Typhoon Ragasa is expected to affect Taiwan starting Monday, CNA reported.
The typhoon, which formed Thursday, is located in the waters east of the Philippines and is moving toward Taiwan. Its intensity is expected to continue increasing, possibly developing into a moderate typhoon by Monday.
The storm is forecast to bring intermittent rain to northern and eastern Taiwan on Monday, with heavy rain expected in the east and south from Tuesday to Wednesday and occasional showers in other regions. The typhoon is expected to begin moving away from the nation starting Thursday.
Another typhoon, Mitag, is located in the waters northwest of the Philippines and is moving toward southeastern China. The administration said it will not directly affect Taiwan, but its outer circulation is expected to bring intermittent rainfall to the southeastern and western mountainous areas between Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, temperatures are expected to range from 26 C to 36 C in the north, 25 C to 34 C in central and southern regions, and 26 C to 32 C in the east. Thunderstorms are possible in the western area during the afternoon.
Over the weekend, aside from the rainfall from Typhoon Mitag, most areas will see partly cloudy to sunny weather with temperatures ranging from 25 C to 34 C.
