TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Lin Chun-liang (林俊良), deputy director-general of Taiwan’s Civil Aeronautics Administration, is leading a delegation to hold sideline meetings at the International Civil Aviation Organization Assembly, which opened Tuesday in Montreal, Canada.
Speaking virtually at a press conference, Lin said he plans to hold about 20 bilateral talks with partners and organizations such as the International Federation of Air Line Pilots Associations, per CNA. Topics include air traffic management, flight safety oversight, crew fatigue, and net-zero carbon goals.
Lin said that with assistance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Taiwan hosted a press conference at Canada’s Parliament, drawing coverage from several regional and national outlets. He added that talks so far have produced concrete proposals and actionable recommendations.
Transportation Minister Chen Shih-kai (陳世凱) also promoted Taiwan’s ICAO inclusion, delivering a pre-recorded address to the international civil aviation community. He criticized China for repeatedly failing to give prior notice before announcing military exercises or airspace restrictions within Taipei’s Flight Information Region. Chen also penned opinion articles in international media.
