TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Space Agency and the UK’s Satellite Applications Catapult signed a five-year deal on Tuesday to expand cooperation in satellite assembly and technical training.
The signing coincided with the UK-Taiwan Space Roundtable, co-hosted by TASA and the British Office in Taipei. The event gathered tech companies to discuss low-Earth orbit satellite partnerships and sustainable applications, per CNA.
NSTC Chair Wu Cheng-wen (吳誠文) said UK companies already work with the agency on payload rideshare and propulsion. TASA Director Wu Tsung-hsin (吳宗信) commented that the agreement formalizes trust built since 2023.
Representative at the British Office Taipei Ruth Bradley-Jones described the partnership as a potential “supernova,” noting the UK space sector’s strategic value and Taiwan’s industrial capabilities.
The forum included a four-way discussion on satellite partnerships, featuring representatives from the UK Space Agency, Foxconn Research Institute, and Compal. TASA said 22 Taiwanese and 10 British companies joined business matching sessions to explore collaboration.
