TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Saxony Minister President Michael Kretschmer arrived in Taiwan on Sunday to expand bilateral cooperation during a four-day visit, the German Institute Taipei said.
Kretschmer will visit TSMC and meet Chairman and CEO C.C. Wei (魏哲家) to discuss the company’s fab project in Dresden, Saxony’s capital. He will also open the Saxony–Taiwan science conference, deliver a keynote at the Siemens Taiwan Sustainability Summit, and hold talks with the National Palace Museum on potential cooperation projects.
This is the first visit to Taiwan by the head of a German federal state, the institute said. His delegation includes economic and scientific representatives, Saxony’s Minister of Economic Affairs Dirk Panter, Minister of Science Sebastian Gemkow, state parliamentarians, and mayors.
The institute said Taiwan is a promising partner for Germany in science, the economy, and culture.
