TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Navy has designated four live-fire zones in preparation for its Hai Chiang exercise set for next month.
Waters south and northwest of Penghu, west of Zuoying, and northeast off the coast of Keelung will be restricted during the mid-October exercise, Liberty Times reported. The Navy also plans to close airspace off the coast of Kaohsiung for training on Oct. 13.
It will deploy P-3C anti-submarine aircraft and S-70C anti-submarine helicopters to test offshore defense.
The exercise will include joint interception operations, damage control assessments, firefighting, tactical maneuvers, aerial refueling, and partial live-fire drills.
The Army and Air Force are also scheduled to launch exercises later in October.
