TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) praised the bilateral cooperation between Taiwan and Paraguay under the Diplomatic Allies Prosperity Project during talks with Paraguay’s Minister of Industry and Commerce Javier Gimenez on Tuesday.
Lin said in a Facebook post that Taiwan is helping Paraguay develop the Taiwan–Paraguay Smart Technology Park, which draws on Taiwan’s experience in building science parks. The park will feature a localized operational model offering one-stop services to attract industries such as electric bus manufacturing and high-performance textile production, Lin said.
In addition, the two countries are establishing the Taiwan-Paraguay Polytechnic University to cultivate local talent, Lin said. Construction of the 20,000 square-meter campus is expected to be completed by mid-2027. It will have a capacity of 1,000 students.
The foreign minister said that Taiwan has also proposed the Electric Bus Pilot Project, which serves as a model for smart transportation and service systems in the region.
Lin thanked Paraguay President Santiago Pena for his support of Taiwan during the UN General Assembly last month. He also expressed gratitude to the Paraguayan government and congress for providing a more favorable regulatory environment to facilitate Taiwanese investment.
Looking ahead, Lin said Taiwan and Paraguay will continue joint projects such as upgrading Paraguay’s medical information systems, developing secure 5G networks, and exploring power cooperation, all aimed at improving the quality of life and supporting national development.
The foreign minister said that with Taiwan’s development experience and Paraguay’s immense growth potential, the two nations will create a prosperous future together.
