TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — TSMC Chair and CEO C.C. Wei (魏哲家) said Thursday the company’s 2 nm chips will enter mass production in Q4, calling the advanced node a key growth engine.
Speaking during an online investors conference, Wei said demand is driven by applications in smartphones, AI, and high-performance computing products, per CNA. He added that nearly all major innovators are working with TSMC on its 2 nm and next-generation A16 technologies.
Under its technology enhancement strategy, TSMC has also introduced the N2P process, an upgrade within the 2 nm family that offers improved performance and power efficiency. It is scheduled to enter mass production in the second half of next year.
Wei said the upcoming A16 process will feature Super Power Rail technology, designed for complex signal routing and dense power delivery networks in high-performance computing. It too will enter mass production in the second half of next year.
TSMC said it’s building multiple 2 nm fabs in Hsinchu and Kaohsiung Science Parks while accelerating upgrades at its Arizona facilities to support 2 nm and more advanced nodes.
