TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A bipartisan delegation from Australia arrived in Taiwan on Friday for a five-day visit to strengthen bilateral ties.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the group includes lawmakers from the ruling Labor Party and opposition coalition, among them Steve Georganas, Darren Chester, James McGrath, and Richard Colbeck, per CNA.
During their stay, the delegation will meet senior officials, attend a banquet hosted by Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung, and hold discussions with government ministries on expanding cooperation. They will also meet with Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) and Legislative Yuan Deputy Speaker Chiang Chi-chen (江啟臣).
The ministry described Taiwan and Australia as like-minded partners that share democratic values and have deep cooperation in renewable energy and education.
This visit follows a series of high-level exchanges between the two countries. In April last year, President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) met with a cross-party Australian parliamentary delegation, emphasizing the shared commitment to peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.
