TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foxconn on Wednesday announced plans to advance Level 4 autonomous vehicles for robotaxi services through a collaboration with Nvidia, Stellantis, and Uber.
Level 4 robotaxis enable hands-off, eyes-off driving under specific conditions. They rely on a sophisticated technology stack, including high-performance computing, smart power management, reliable connectivity, and thermal control, as well as a broad array of sensors.
In the partnership, each company contributes its area of expertise. Foxconn provides hardware and system integration capabilities, Nvidia supplies AI computing solutions, Stellantis contributes vehicle platforms, and Uber offers access to its global network.
Foxconn Chair Young Liu (劉揚偉) said autonomous mobility is a strategic priority within the company’s electric vehicle program. He noted that the combined strengths of the companies are expected to accelerate the deployment of Level 4 robotaxi technology, with Foxconn delivering high-performance computing and sensor integration for global rollout.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) described the development of Level 4 autonomy as a milestone for both the automotive and AI industries. “The vehicle becomes a robot — one that sees, perceives, plans, and drives with superhuman precision,” Huang said.
Foxconn, a leading electronics manufacturer and technology solutions provider, has expanded into electric vehicles, digital health, and robotics, leveraging key technologies such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and next-generation communications.
