TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan's tech startups stood out at Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology on Wednesday, demonstrating the country’s strengths in chips and smart tech, CNA reported.
Leo Wu (烏仕明), director of Startup Island Taiwan, said the event gave Taiwan startups an opportunity to show their AI tech and smart city solutions. He added these strengths give Taiwan an edge in the ASEAN market.
Wu also pointed out that Startup Island Taiwan has worked with Hsinchu Science Park and the economics ministry to bring in key players to join the event. The group has focused on hardware and semiconductor innovation.
Enterprise Singapore hosted the event to help companies explore Southeast Asian markets and understand local ecosystems. Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong also dropped by to chat with exhibitors.
Taiwan’s Deputy Representative to Singapore Wu Wen-ling (吳文齡) and Economic Division Chief Wu Wen-chung (吳文忠) also visited the event to support Taiwan's startups.
Startup Island Taiwan is a Taiwan brand that promotes the nation’s startups overseas. It helps local innovators connect with global investors and expand into new markets.
Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology, also known as SWITCH, is an annual event that gathers global startups and investors to share new ideas and tech solutions. This year's event runs from Wednesday to Friday at Marina Bay Sands Expo Center.
