TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s ministry-certified spirits earned 38 awards at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the Ministry of Finance said Wednesday.
Deputy Finance Minister Li Ching-hua (李慶華) said the ministry-certified spirits competed in the event, per CNA. They earned seven double gold medals, 13 gold, 13 silver, and five bronze, setting a new record.
Li noted that the premium spirits certification system, launched in 2003, evaluates not just quality but also hygiene standards. Six producers and six production lines were certified this year, including Taihu Brewing and Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corp.
Certified spirits have earned international recognition due to their commitment to safety and flavor, Li said, adding that this year’s record confirms Taiwan’s growing global reputation.
She encouraged consumers to look for the ministry’s premium certification “W” mark when purchasing spirits to ensure quality and authenticity.
