TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Philippines Senator Francis Pangilinan has arrived in Taiwan to learn more about the nation’s agricultural development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Friday.
The senator chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Food, and Agrarian Reform and is known as a staunch supporter of organic farming. During his Oct. 30-Nov. 4 visit, he will focus primarily on Taiwan’s agricultural practices, the ministry said.
Pangilinan will also exchange views with government officials and lawmakers about improving cooperation between the two countries. He previously visited Taiwan in August at the invitation of the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats, a regional group that includes the DPP.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the two neighboring democracies could build on firm foundations to cooperate in the fields of smart agriculture, semiconductors, and green energy.
