TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Tourism Administration is offering NT$600 (US$19.48) gift vouchers to foreign travelers on layover at Taoyuan Airport to boost spending at the hub.
On Saturday, the agency launched the “Enter Taiwan, Enjoy a Gift!” campaign and opened online registration, per CNA. During the promotion, foreign nationals transiting through Taoyuan who enter Taiwan for stays of up to 24 hours are eligible for the voucher.
Participants must register basic information on the event website and, upon arrival, present their passport and onward international boarding pass at the Tourism Administration’s Visitor Service Centers in Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 to collect the shopping voucher. Vouchers can be used at participating airport merchants, including restaurants, duty-free shops, souvenir stores, and other retailers.
The administration said the program aims to encourage transit travelers to sample the airport’s specialty shops and cuisine, enhance Taiwan’s visibility, and entice visitors to return for longer trips. It added it will continue working with Taoyuan International Airport Corporation and airlines to roll out more incentives for transit passengers.
Given Taiwan’s strategic location in Asia, airlines such as Emirates and Etihad Airways have been expanding routes and increasing flight frequencies. The administration said Taoyuan Airport is Taiwan’s major international gateway, and the voucher program is designed to draw more transit passengers to enter Taiwan and experience its facilities and culture.
The promotion runs from Nov. 1, 2025, to Oct. 31, 2026. Interested travelers can apply via the “Enter Taiwan, Enjoy a Gift!” website.
