TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s Far EasTone Telecom will partner with South Korea’s CJ ENM, the Taiwan Creative Content Agency, and TVBS to set up two entertainment funds worth more than NT$1.5 billion (US$46 million).
CNA reported the announcement was made at a Tuesday press conference. The two vehicles — the Taiwan–Korea Entertainment and Cultural Content Fund and the Far EasTone Enjoy Entertainment Fund — will invest in films, dramas, and concerts.
Far EasTone said the goal is to help Taiwan’s content industry go global by working with international production teams. CEO Ching Chi (井琪) called local content Taiwan’s cultural soft power.
She added that Far EasTone’s Friday Video service has been Taiwan’s top paid streaming platform for three straight years and is shifting from buying content to co-producing it with global partners.
Sean Cho, vice president of international business at CJ ENM, said the Taiwan–Korea partnership carries significant strategic value, adding that combining Korea’s production expertise with Taiwan’s creativity can yield more global hits, per Variety.
TAICCA Chair Sue Wang (王時思) said the partnership marks a new stage for Taiwan’s film and TV industry — moving toward structured investment and global collaboration. She said the agency will keep linking funding and creative talent to help Taiwanese stories reach the world.
