TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) arrived in Taiwan Friday afternoon to tour TSMC facilities and attend a sports day event held by the chipmaker.
His first stop will be Tainan, where he will visit TSMC's 3nm plant, one of Nvidia's key suppliers, per CNA.
On Saturday, Huang will attend TSMC’s annual sports day at the Hsinchu County Stadium alongside founder Morris Chang (張忠謀). The event is only open to invited media and employees.
A VIP speech is planned for this year's sports day. This has led industry observers to speculate that Huang may give the speech.
Before flying to Taiwan, Huang attended the Financial Times Future of AI Summit in London. He said that lower energy costs and looser regulations in China could allow the country to defeat the US in the AI race, per the Financial Times.
He also said that Western countries, including the US and the UK, are constrained by “cynicism” and added, “We need more optimism.”
