TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Southern Taiwan experienced a magnitude 5.3 earthquake at 1 p.m. on Monday, according to the Central Weather Administration.
The epicenter was located 72.1 km of Kaohsiung City Hall with a depth of 7.8 km.
Taiwan uses a scale of 1 to 7 to measure a quake’s intensity at a specific location. Chiayi County, Kaohsiung, and Tainan experienced an intensity level of 4.
Chiayi City, Pingtung County, Yunlin County, and Hualien County felt a level 3.
