TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan and Poland have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote business parks and special economic zones, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said Saturday.
The signing took place during a visit to the Central European country by Deputy Minister Cynthia Kiang (江文若). She attended the 13th round of trade talks between Taiwan and Poland.
The discussions focused on semiconductors, green energy, innovation for small and medium enterprises, and information and communication technology, per CNA. The city of Wroclaw hosted the talks Friday, with Secretary of State in the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology Michal Jaros leading the Polish side.
Kiang’s delegation was the largest ever to visit Poland from Taiwan, including more than 100 members. The size of the group showed the high level of willingness to boost bilateral trade relations, the ministry said.
Jaros described Taiwan not just as an important partner, but also as a reliable partner. He promised Poland would simplify the procedure to apply for a work permit and provide businesses with more efficient services. The Polish government also promoted the country as a “Gateway to Europe” for investors from Taiwan.
