TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Railways Corporation opened online ticket reservations at midnight on Monday for trips between Dec. 31 and Jan. 5.
TRC reported that as of 9 a.m., 29,560 transactions and 46,374 tickets had been successfully booked, per CNA. Reservations can be made on the e-booking app, telephone service and convenience store kiosks.
According to TRC, most services between Taipei and Hualien and Taipei and Taitung from Dec. 31 to Jan. 1 still have seats available. Only the Taipei–Taitung service departing at 7 a.m. on Dec. 31 has a few remaining seats.
For services from Taitung and Hualien to Taipei on Jan. 4, all scheduled trains still have available seats.
Meanwhile, seats are still available for Taipei to Kaohsiung trains between Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 and Kaohsiung to Taipei trains on Jan. 4. Seats are also available for Kaohsiung to Taitung trains from Dec. 31 to Jan. 1 and Taitung to Kaohsiung trains on Jan. 4.
TRC reminded travelers that after booking, tickets must be collected within two days at any ticketing station, post office, convenience store or via the online credit card payment system or e-booking app. Tickets not collected by the deadline will be re-released at 9 a.m. on Dec. 3.
