TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — DPP Legislator Lin Chun-hsien (林俊憲) made an appearance Thursday at Chimei Happiness Factory, which launched a free-coffee offer for travelers showing a Tainan flight ticket to help boost airport use.
CNA reported that Lin brought together central and local agencies and private firms to step up the promotion of Tainan Airport. The legislator said he wants to show Tainan City's rich culture and tech hub to draw more visitors.
Lin noted that the city has a strong tourism appeal but has long struggled with too few international routes. Lin said Tainan Airport has an advantage as a dual-use military and civilian facility, which could help carriers expand their services.
The legislator said he has pushed the Civil Aviation Administration and airlines to bring back international flights. Lin noted that the new direct flights from Tainan City to Japan have been finalized.
Chimei Foods said travelers who show a Tainan departure or arrival ticket can pick up a free Americano at Happiness Factory. The company said it wants visitors to feel welcomed the moment they reach the city.
Tourism Administration Chief Secretary Fang Cheng-kuang (方正光) said more routes will help reshape southern Taiwan’s tourism map. Fang said the administration will keep working with airlines and travel firms to package Tainan’s culture, food, festivals, and tech attractions for overseas markets.
Tainan Airport serves both civilian and military use and sits close to the city’s major cultural and tech hubs. It currently handles domestic flights and a limited number of international routes.
