TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Changhua County's animal disease control center on Friday opened the first adoption round for seized pedigree cats, drawing strong public interest and placing four cats in new homes in the morning session.
CNA reported the center took in 41 cats from a local breeder after inspectors found an unsanitary living environment and sick animals. Staff said one cat is still under care, while the other 40 are healthy enough for adoption.
The center said seven more cats will be offered in the afternoon, with 34 people already registered. It added that more sessions will open on Dec. 19 as sign-ups continue.
The center reminded selected adopters to complete all steps, including pet registration and sharing accurate home conditions with staff. It said workers will follow up by phone or home visits and stressed that owners cannot transfer the cats within one year.
