TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A Paraguayan media delegation visited Taiwan last month to gain a better understanding of the country’s growth and bilateral ties, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Wednesday.
The eight-member delegation was in Taiwan from Nov. 23 to 28, the ministry said in a statement. During talks with the group, Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) emphasized that Taiwan’s diplomatic approach aims to help partner countries build sustainable industries and governance capacity and achieve shared prosperity.
Lin pointed out that Taiwanese and Paraguayan industries are complementary and said Taiwan is willing to share its experience in industrialization and technological development. He cited the Taiwan–Paraguay Smart Technology Park as a demonstration of Taiwan’s willingness to help Paraguay increase product value, generate employment opportunities, and expand into Mercosur as well as European and US markets.
Additionally, Taiwan plans to cooperate with the US to assist Paraguay in integrating into global non-China supply chains and securing a key role in AI development, Lin said.
While in Taiwan, the delegation visited various facilities and institutions within Taiwan’s research ecosystem to gain insights into government-industry-academia collaboration. Upon returning home, delegation members published more than thirty in-depth reports, commentaries, and video features highlighting Taiwan’s democratic system and achievements in education and the technology sector, the ministry said.
Reports also covered the development of non-Chinese supply chains and the risks posed by China’s expanding global influence.
