TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — New Taipei’s education department on Tuesday introduced a dual diploma program with San Francisco High School of the Arts, allowing students to earn both Taiwanese and US diplomas.
According to the city’s education department, the program is open to New Taipei senior high school students, especially those in fine arts, music and dance tracks. Students can take US Advanced Placement and art classes online in Taiwan, then go to the US in the summer for hands-on workshops.
San Francisco High School of the Arts will also provide one-on-one counseling to help students plan college and career paths. Officials said the goal is to help students move on to well-known art and design schools in the US and Canada.
New Taipei education department Commissioner Zhang Ming-wen (張明文) said the program brings world-class art classes to Taiwan without students needing to go abroad.
The education department said New Taipei has promoted similar programs with English-speaking countries since 2019 and expanded them in recent years. It added that the city will keep bringing in overseas resources to give students more choices and help them step onto the global stage.
