Taiwan’s Joint Credit Information Center (JCIC) on Tuesday honored 50 financial institutions and 67 individuals for outstanding performance in credit information security, data quality and sustainable finance, highlighting the role of credit data in strengthening the country’s financial system.
The annual event recognizes achievements across Taiwan’s banking, insurance and cooperative financial sectors in applying credit information to risk management and lending decisions.
JCIC is Taiwan’s credit information service agency, responsible for collecting and maintaining cross-institutional credit data. The organization supports financial institutions by helping them assess customers’ overall credit risk during credit investigations and loan reviews.
JCIC presents four major awards each year: the Gold Security Award, Gold Quality Award, Gold Excellence Award, and the Sustainable Finance Award. The honors are intended to encourage strong information security controls, improve the quality of reported credit data, expand the use of credit information, and promote sustainable finance.
Award recipients included domestic and foreign banks, insurance companies, credit cooperatives, and farmer and fishermen associations. Each winning institution received a trophy, while individual awardees were presented with a trophy and prize money of NT$60,000 (US$1,908).
The ceremony coincided with the 50th anniversary of JCIC’s founding. Looking ahead, the center said it will continue enhancing services for member institutions by providing a secure, convenient, and stable credit information environment with uninterrupted operations.
JCIC also said it will support regulators’ sustainable finance policies by developing a corporate environmental, social and governance (ESG) data platform, promoting “social responsibility lending,” and building an integrated platform for physical climate risk information for financial institutions.
In addition, JCIC has connected its systems with data from the National Immigration Agency and the Ministry of Labor’s Workforce Development Agency related to high-risk foreign nationals to help reduce fraud risk. It is also assisting Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission in building a digital platform for bank supervisory data reporting and analysis.
