TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei Deputy Mayor Lin Yi-hua (林奕華) departed for Shanghai on Saturday to attend the Taipei–Shanghai Twin-City Forum.
Speaking at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, Lin said she is leading the delegation on behalf of Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) to ensure the forum’s 16th edition exchange-oriented approach, per CNA. She said the aim is to deepen practical cooperation rather than pursue symbolic outcomes.
The two-day forum will be held on Saturday and Sunday. Chiang, who shortened his trip following a recent attack, will attend only the main forum on Saturday morning, with Lin overseeing the remaining events.
Lin said this year’s theme is “technology changing lives,” with Taipei and Shanghai set to sign two memorandums of understanding on water governance and vocational training. Subforums will cover areas including smart healthcare and rail transportation.
Lin said the delegation includes 120 participants, among them the Taipei City Council speaker, 10 councilors, and scholars. She said the forum will allow both sides to share experience and work towards mutual benefit.
