TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp. said it will add six weekly southbound late-night services starting Feb. 2.
In a press release, the company said Train No. 1985 will depart Nangang Station at 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, stopping at Taipei and Banqiao stations before running directly to Tainan and continuing to Zuoying. The train will skip Taichung, reducing travel time between Taipei and Tainan to 83 minutes. Travel time from Taipei to Zuoying will be shortened to 95 minutes.
Meanwhile, Train No. 1575 will depart Nangang Station at 10:30 p.m. on Saturdays, stopping at Taipei, Taoyuan, and Hsinchu stations before terminating at Taichung.
The company said departure times for southbound Train No. 1563, which operates Fridays and Sundays, will be slightly adjusted at Taoyuan and Hsinchu stations.
Tickets for the new timetable will go on sale at midnight next Monday, THSRC said. Tickets for later dates will be made available for advance purchase on a rolling basis in line with the presale schedule.
The corporation said it will continue to monitor passenger demand and make adjustments by adding services and optimizing stopping patterns.
