TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – South Korea urged peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait as China launched large-scale live-fire drills close to Taiwan on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the foreign ministry in Seoul said cross-strait relations should develop through dialogue and cooperation in the direction of peace, per CNA. The government of South Korea would continue to monitor developments with peace on the Korean peninsula as its prime concern, the spokesperson said.
President Lee Jae-myung is scheduled to visit China next week to discuss regional issues and international trade.
China’s Eastern Theater Command announced Monday that it would conduct the “Justice Mission 2025” exercises on Tuesday across five sea and air zones near Taiwan.
