TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwanese bagel shop Miopane has opened its first US location in Pasadena, Los Angeles, drawing long lines of customers eager to sample its organic bagels.
Miopane opened on Jan. 1, with crowds stretching to the street corner, per World Journal. The following day, dozens of customers waited more than 30 minutes under umbrellas as foot traffic remained steady throughout the morning.
Customers included Taiwanese immigrants eager for a taste of home. Some traveled from Orange County and downtown Los Angeles, while others were local residents drawn in by the buzz.
The debut comes despite Los Angeles’ crowded bagel market, home to well-known names such as Boichik and PopUp Bagels. Miopane has stood out with its handmade, Taiwanese-style filled bagels.
The Pasadena shop features a bright, open layout with bagels displayed behind a glass counter and the preparation area fully visible. Customers can watch bakers knead and bake.
The US menu offers more than 20 bagel flavors along with coffee and tea. Popular items include maple glaze green onion croissants and jalapeno sharp cheddar bagels.
Bagels are priced at about NT$230 (US$7.50) compared with about NT$80 back home, though customers say they are comparable to local offerings. Miopane is located at 95, North Raymond Avenue, in Pasadena, and is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
