TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — European ride-hailing company Bolt said Thursday that rides in Taiwan have jumped nearly 50% since its September launch.
Since entering the market, Bolt has rapidly expanded its operations, attracting riders and driver-partners as the platform scales up, per CNA. Weekend and nighttime demand drives the majority of trips, particularly on Fridays and Saturdays.
Popular pickup points are concentrated around Taipei’s Xinyi District, including ATT 4 Fun and Ichiran Ramen, as well as major transit hubs like Taipei Main Station.
Trip distances vary widely, with the longest recorded ride reaching 354 kilometers from Taipei to Kaohsiung. Bolt said this demonstrates its ability to support short urban trips and occasional long-distance travel.
Driver activity data shows drivers can earn a weekly income exceeding NT$60,000 (US$1,900), highlighting the platform’s appeal for professional ride-hailing partners.
Bolt Taiwan General Manager Tseng Hsien-hung (曾憲竑) said the data confirms strong demand for safe, on-demand mobility. He emphasized that the service is valuable during peak evening and weekend periods.
The company said it will tailor services to Taiwan’s urban environment, leveraging global experience while collaborating with local fleets.
