TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei City Government has opened applications for close to 300 vacant social housing units across multiple districts, with members of the public able to apply through Feb. 3.
The largest share of the release comes from the Xinglong Social Housing E Zone in Wenshan District, where 247 units ranging from one- to three-bedroom layouts are available, per CNA. An additional 44 units are being offered at the Xinglong D2 Zone and the Nangang Machinery Plant Area 1 sites.
Applicants are eligible under several categories, including households with local residency ties, Taipei City–registered residents, and individuals who live outside the city but study or work in Taipei. For standard applicants, a lottery will set who gets reviewed first, and leases will be offered to eligible households as their turn comes up.
Applications submitted under special-status categories will be handled separately through a points-based evaluation system, with rankings determined by the city’s Department of Social Welfare.
To streamline the process, Taipei City Housing and Urban Renewal Center has launched a unified online social housing registration platform. During the transition period, applicants may still submit materials online, by mail, or in person.
The city is also accepting applications for social housing sites that currently have no vacant units, including Xinglong D1, Jingwen, and Juguang. These applications will be used to establish waiting lists, with eligible applicants notified if units become available later.
Applications close at 5 p.m. on Feb. 3.
